About Us

For almost 40 years, St. Marguerite Bourgeoys FertilityCare™ has operated in the GTA. We provide ongoing instruction in the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System, where specific biomarkers are gathered to monitor hormonal events during a woman's menstrual cycle.

This information is interpreted by specially trained Practitioners who can assist the woman or couple in interpreting cycle events for family planning purposes, and/or further identify potential cycle health concerns.

If concerns are noted, the Practitioner will refer the client to a NaProTECHNOLOGY® Medical Consultant for diagnosis and restorative treatment options for optimal cycle health, and if desired, pregnancy.

We also provide speaking services, with experience speaking to both large and small groups, in person and virtual.

Examples of past speaking engagements include:

  • Youth Groups

  • High Schools

  • Confirmation Classes

  • Marriage Preparation Courses

  • Medical Conferences

  • Retreats, seminars, and other group events

The History of FertilityCare

When Pope Paul VI presented his encyclical Humanae Vitae in 1968, Dr. Hilgers began to research natural fertility regulation. He hoped to provide a better method for Catholic couples to live out the teachings presented, and over time he developed the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System.

This revolutionary method was first developed in 1976, and is an integrated educational system providing education and services from an educated Practitioner based on continued research. The method is standardized - although instruction is tailored to the individual client/couple, the standardized education of the Practitioners and the method of charting provide a high degree of efficacy.

Although grounded in the teachings of the Catholic Church, the Creighton Model can be used by women and couples of any or no faith background.

Our Agency's History

St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Family Centre was founded in 1983 by Sister Marilyn Mangan.

Sr. Marilyn attended the very first Practitioner Training Program with Dr Hilgers in 1978, after having taught an alternate method of Family Planning in both Toronto and Kingston. While learning more about the Creighton Model, she felt this was the continued work of her Order's foundress, St. Marguerite Bourgeoys. She became a founding member of the American Academy of FertilityCare™ Practitioners, and the first Canadian Practitioner.
