My [former] gynecologist had informed me that morning that I would be unlikely to conceive due to the presence of a large uterine fibroid.
We were able to conceive in our second cycle of trying.
As soon as I returned home, I called the centre and described my situation to them. One of their counsellors called me back within fifteen minutes and she was able to give me some hope. My husband and I were matched with an instructor who taught us how to use the Creighton Model Fertility Care System.
After I was confident in using the system to identify the time of ovulation, they tested my hormone levels and discovered that low progesterone levels were causing many of my symptoms. I was prescribed bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Within two cycles I began to notice a real change in the way I felt; my cycle was closer to normal each month.
My husband and I have successfully used this method since our marriage over 4 years ago; this included a time when I had to undergo radioactive iodine treatment for a thyroid condition. For six months after the readioactive treatment, it was imperative that we not conceive because of the harmful effects of the radiation.
Because of my various health conditions we had to delay starting our family and we were afraid that it would take us awhile to achieve our goal. However, despite being over 35 we were able to conceive in our second cycle of trying. Our beautiful son, Andrew has been the greatest blessing and reward that we could ever imagine!
A year later, we were quite surprised and discouraged when we weren’t successful in our initial attempts to give Andrew a baby brother or sister. So once again we called the Centre. With the use of Creighton Model FertilityCare and NaProTECHNOLOGY we were able to identify and improve my hormone levels once again. It took several cycles, a lot of patience and many prayers but we are now anxiously awaiting the birth of our second child!
