Dr. Thomas W. Hilgers MD, Dip. ABOG, SRS, CFCE
Dr. Hilgers is the founding director of the Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction. He is a specialist, physician, researcher and educator and with his team has developed the Creighton Model System, NaProTECHNOLOGY® and FertilityCare™.
As a young obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Hilgers researched the signs and symptoms of fertility and infertility associated with a woman’s menstrual cycle. He was convinced that if a couple looked at the evidence visible in a woman’s cycle then they could regulate the size of their family according to their personal wishes. He called this the Creighton Model System.
Within a few years it became obvious that this new system provided valuable information in regard to women’s health and a new medical model of gynecologic and reproductive care was developed. A particular characteristic of this medical model is that a precise understanding of the underlying cause of fertility-related problems are identified and all treatment is directed towards correcting the underlying cause while preserving the procreative potential. This medical model is based on the new and evolving science of NaProTECHNOLOGY®.
